Centuries ago, the Wars of Tainted Blood ravaged the old empire. The world was drowned in blood as the gods themselves fought for survival. The people of Anu were on the brink of destruction.

One man, Cael, gathered as many as he could and sailed west, finding an uninhabited land which they named Innismor. A land where they could settle and be free of war. They became the Siora.

The Siora of Innismor have prospered, with Cael’s teachings as its founding constitution. Ward magic is strictly controlled by the church in order to maintain purity and avoid the mistakes of the past, but their methods have become dogmatic and oppressive.

Now, after eight hundred isolated years, contact is made with the continent, the Old World. It is trade only, tightly controlled, and no outsider can set foot on Innismor where the Great Houses strive for dominance and the church casts a fearful shadow over all.

In The Old World, Calum of Rath Deas travels to Calanais for his name day, a rite held at the ancient circle of standing stones. It is a merry ceremony to mark the passage to adulthood. They still follow the old ways, they remain people of Anu, despite the new empire’s repression.

But Calum’s life changes suddenly and unexpectedly. As he places his hand on the stone, something happens. A voice, ageless and ancient, calls to him, reaching into his soul… and the stones start to glow.

Ostracised and on the run, Calum is smuggled to Innismor, and his coming will spark a bloody storm that will change Innismor society forever.

The Innismor Series will be at least 3 books, possibly more. As of May 2026, I am working on Book 1, which introduces our main characters and tracks Calum’s arrival in Innismor and the ruthless politics at play in the land. I am hoping to release Book 1 in 2027.

It will be strongly character driven, with multiple characters, each of them complex, distinct and entirely human. It combines medeval politics and conflict with a magic system that is technical and engineered rather than abstract.
